XTremeSTORM is a punishing 18-kilometer race with 35 menacing obstacles. A gruelling challenge that will push the fittest of athletes to the point of exhaustion.
EEC Home Improvements have 20 courageous and daring employees participating in this nightmarish contest, but it’s by no means for the laid-back or weak-kneed. The time has come to torment every part of our bodies; muscles we have never trained will suffer spasms and strains, aches and pains. Laborious and taxing workouts 5 times a week is barely enough to prepare anyone to face this STORM, but we WILL strengthen and we WILL turn out, if not for ourselves but for our chosen charities.
We will be battling against the STORM raising as much money as possible for two local charities, splitting the funds 50/50 to Queenscourt Hospice and Claire House Children’s Hospice, both based in Southport, Merseyside.
Queenscourt Hospice ensures that life is for living for those with far-advanced and progressive terminal illness by providing symptom control and holistic care for patients and their families, along with educational support for their professional carers, to enable them to stay at home as far as possible.
Claire House Children’s Hospice provides respite, end-of-life and bereavement care for children and young adults with complex medical needs, up to the age of 23. Also there to support the whole family, providing support and counselling for as long as is needed.
The event is anticipated to be televised on Channel 4, British Euro sport and ESPN, with 4 million viewers expected to be watching when we jolt from the start line pumping with adrenaline, passion and sheer determination to outrun the STORM.
Muddy crawls under razor wire, vertical climbs over sea containers, immersions into freezing waters and dodging through electric fencing are just a taster of what’s to follow. Around the halfway mark and struggling through the pain barrier, we will be forced to climb 10 meters up a vertical cargo net, followed by a swim in the freezing Marine Lake to fight our way to HELL ISLAND, where horrendous XTreme surprises await us. On our way back to dry land we will be beckoned to Pleasured Pursuit – where obstacles will construct a harrowing track through the theme park. Into the final throws we will be faced with ‘Apocalypse’– in the words of XTremeSTORM – The final horrific assemble of pain.
EEC’s XTreme Team are honoured to attempt the XTremeSTORM Challenge raising money for such amazing charities, our minds will be focused on that thought giving us the strength to complete the 18 fierce kilometres and 35 brutal obstacles.
Months of strenuous training and harsh bootcamp sessions will pay off when we finally make it to the (what seems so so so far away now) FINISH line.
A special mention to our sponsor In It To-Win It who are helping us raise much needed funds through their website.
